The Darien Community Association (DCA)  in Darien, CT enriches the Darien community in a welcoming, historic setting for lifelong learning, philanthropy, and enjoyment.

We do this in four distinct ways:

  • Activities: We offer a wide range of programs, classes and groups — both in-person and virtually, and attended pre-COVID by 1500 participants each month.
  • Philanthropy: As the largest provider of college scholarships to Darien High School graduates, we award at least $50,000 each year — this year to nearly 40 students. Our philanthropy also includes our nearly four acre DCA Bird Sanctuary and Nature Trail, our contribution to open space in Darien, available for the public to enjoy.
  • DCA Thrift Shop: We own and operate the DCA Thrift Shop on the Post Road, providing a much-needed community service. 1000 customers purchase items each month — and the shop is staffed by enthusiastic volunteers under the supervision of a paid manager.
  • Beautiful Venue: We offer our historic home and garden to rent for your own private or corporate event — whether it is a wedding, birthday celebration, nonprofit fundraiser, or corporate meeting.

The DCA is seeking to fill the following positions:

Office Manager

Responsibilities are to ensure that the operations of the office and of the organization as a whole run smoothly, while providing strong administrative support to the executive director. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference in the local community: representing the mission of one of its longest-standing nonprofit organizations, with the benefit of working in the atmosphere of our beautiful historic home. This position may be suitable for someone re-entering the workplace. The DCA office manager will report to the DCA executive director and will work closely with DCA staff and all our constituents, serving as a friendly and effective ambassador of the DCA.

Responsibilities are to oversee the DCA’s financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. Finance data is held within QuickBooks and used to produce balance sheets, profit/loss statements and other reports for payroll and budgeting/forecasting. Excel is used for financial reports.
