THE CHALLENGE

Looking to grow

With a proud history dating back over 100 years, the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) is one of 4,000 clubs across the United States providing critical afterschool and summer care for boys and girls ages 6-18. In 2016, with a new CEO in place, BGCG was positioned for major growth and had ambitious goals of:

  • Reaching more families in the community
  • Strengthening and fine tuning its program offerings
  • Expanding rental capabilities
  • Making facility upgrades to building space and technology
  • Developing a measurement system to track program impact

THE OUTCOME

A strategic approach defined the action plan

In early 2017 BGCG decided to create a strategic plan, intended to drive positive change while embracing continuity, and provide a sharper focus for BGCG’s work in serving its community. Over the course of 10 months, a leadership group of BGCG board members, advisory board members, and staff developed the plan with assistance from The Strategy Group that helped BGCG to:

Create a balanced portfolio of quality programming.

Utilize space and technology efficiently to increase revenue and improve service delivery, productivity, and community reach.

Improve community awareness and outreach to increase participation, and financial support.

Secure resources from a diverse array of institutional and individual donors to fully support needs.
