Seven years ago, we embarked on a daring adventure and gave it a name, The Strategy Group LLC. Our vision was simple…we wanted to help nonprofits address and solve their greatest challenges in the best way possible. We have been invited into organizations who want to strengthen their impact, improve their processes, and transform their culture.  

Our clients motivate us to be the best we can be. This summer we decided it was time for us to look at ourselves and to find ways to be better. And we have learned some lessons:

  1. Creating a thoughtful growth strategy challenges you to be honest and humble. We challenge our clients to find their excellence and evolve. As our clients have grown, so have we. We strive to stay ahead of the curve and remain dynamic and fresh. We want to be open to change and honest about some of our work that perhaps has become less relevant. We hope our work reflects how we have grown.
  2. If you don’t make the effort, you won’t see the results. We have wanted to look at ourselves in a more intentional way for a while but never quite got off the mark. We hired two excellent consultants to do for us what we do for our clients – ask the tough questions, demand honest answers, dig deeper than is comfortable, and help us stay the course. They were kind and candid. They never allowed us to be lazy or settle for less than excellence. They have been a breath of fresh air!
  3. It is much easier to be the consultant than to be consulted!  I now better appreciate how our clients feel. But that is not all we have learned. We have asked clients some important questions. What do you need right now?  How can we best serve you? How can we help you navigate these crazy times? How can we engage with you in a more meaningful way? Our services and approach will hopefully reflect your responses. As we move forward, we will continue to reflect, learn and grow along with you.
  4. Embrace change. The Strategy Group is evolving. Our “look” will be different. But those are just symbols of our excitement for our future. Our focus remains constant. We want to help you live your mission with the most up-to-date knowledge and practices. That defines all our work and we will never stop striving to deliver on that promise.
